Recently upgraded PC to an Alienware area 51 but need a good monitor to really reap the benefits of it, what are you all using and any suggestions? -------------

look for one with the lowest response time possible. if you find one at 2ms, id grab it. as for the resolution, it depends on the size. 720 if below around 30" to 32" to save cash since at that size and down your eyes wont notice the diff between 720 and 1080. -------------

For pure gaming fuk the quality.your looking for 144hz tn panel.TN panels are the majority and look like crap but are fast.I have this one:

This is the 2nd Alienware PC I've bought, the Area 51. Before that I had an Aurora and I never had any trouble with it, got 5 and a half years out of before I found games I couldnt max the gfx on.
Dell bought the brand but Alienware are still quality PCs. The machine I bought is a beast.  -------------

| I'm glad you had good luck but since Dell bought them the quality went down. I've had 3 of them in the shop just in the last 2 weeks. One barely out of warranty and the other 2 were maybe 1 year out and all 3 with dead motherboards. I've no doubt you could build your own and have much longer warranty on parts and you wiull spend near 1/2 the price. |

I've definitely heard Dell has a poor reputation in the U.S although I've not heard anyone complain over here. You are probably right about building my own machine cheaper but I dont have the know-how for that.
PF and myself had a good look over the options ( I would have loved to get a Titan gfx card but settled for the Nvidia geforce GTX 980 which was better bang for my buck) but I would say I'll get another 5 years out of this PC easy. -------------

the one i built when i first moved into condo 5yrs ago is still a small reactor waiting to go into full meltdown. other than adding some mem ive been lucky. still running games at max. -------------
