Topic: No USB Power or Video Posted: August 18 2010 at 12:48am |
I have an older computer that I sometimes use and I just went to use it and it is somewhat dead. The fans work, the MB power lights but the USB power is not present and there is no video. The HD does not seem to start either. This is a Dell 4550. My guess is that the power supply died or parts of it. It was sitting most of the time but powered on and sucking cat hair. So can someone let me know what to check or do Thanks!! |

If you want help or advice, PM me Jim and we can talk. You can probably fix it for cheap.... It's easy to get a new PSU (Power Supply Unit) for under $40 for the kind of machine you're talking about there. It's also usually easy to install... TIMEOUT. You said Dell. They have their own crazy PSU's on many models... We may have to look in to that first...

Back to the drawing board. New Power supply doesn't fix the problem or probLEm exists that is shorting out the PS. Any guesses of where to look or how to troubleshoot? Thanks!
