Topic: FSB Speeds Posted: March 06 2010 at 9:33pm |
I have been wondering...
I replaced my fried motherboard about 3 months ago. I had the old mobo for about 2 years - but this machine, with a newer mobo, is much slower. I also upgraded the CPU at the time. Could this be the reason? My CPU Core Speed is 2666MHz, my multiplier is x8, my Bus Speed is 333.3MHz, and my rated FSB is 1333MHz. Should my Bus Speed be 4 times faster, and if so, how do I change it in my BIOS? I don't want to damage this thing.... Thanks for any and all comments, as usual! No,q9450 cpu?
Down load this
Look it over.Check the RAM settings and others.
SPD in cpuz is "reccmmened" ram timings.Should be run'in the quickest settings.
Memory tab to check actual settings.
My guess atm is the ram ratio/timings/volts is to low in bios.
BTW,send that old dead mobo in for rma.3yr warranty.

Most of what you said is Greek to me. I validated the CPUZ and here is the report: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1061008

Appears from the screen shot you have mismatched ram.
Slots 1 & 3 are 666 1gb each total 2gb
Slots 2 & 4 are 800 2gb each total 4gb
Click on spd tab in cpuz.Click on slots 1-4,confirm above.
Its defaulting to the lower speed of ram.
Maybe a bug in cpuz?
To test, turn off unplug computer.Cycle power button.Remove ram sticks in the slot closest to cpu and 3rd slot.Boot up,check cpuz data.

Once you go SSD you will never go back to platters! But only 80gb? Actually I just checked... I am using 64gb and I have a hell of a lot of software installed, including a large architectural engineering application (Chief Architect). Three graphics editing packages including Video Pro X, Office 07 Pro, and a few games. I prolly could have saved a few bucks with an 80gb and bought a 5870 graphics card. Damnit Spock. |

I just bought a 60GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227475
Good bang for $, all things considered. Bought yesterday, got it today. Will load OS (win 7 home 64bit) and some select games on it. After Hagar's feedback on his SSD, I knew I wanted one :) |
