Hey guys!

Who here has heard of Google Wave? My family hasn't heard about it and it sort of shocked me. Some people in this community have to have heard of it, right? Ice, Vin, someone?

Here's an Info Link, it's awesome.
The only problem is that the info video is over an hour long... but I watched the whole thing (over several days) and it's GREAT!! **They made a 8 min overview video, info below... check it out!**

Check the site out and if you have time, the vid too. Or at least part of it to see what it's about.

Today I got my first invites, but they only gave me 8 and I sent them to my siblings and a couple friends already, sorry. If I get more I'll let you know!

Yay I just saw that the Google Wave team made an 8 min video overview of their new program, and I wanted to share it with you guys. It goes by fast and helps familiarize you with the program.

I highly suggest that you look into the program; it's like high-quality, redesigned, instantaneous e-mail/chat/blogging/data/file sharing - on an epic & organized scale. It integrates Twitter too, and once it's out of Beta I'm sure it will also incorporate other blog/chat/internet update sites as well.

Plus, there's a language TRANSLATOR app that would be perfect for our diverse community!

Interesting technology. My first thought is that it is a great way to waste time... another social networking tool to add to all the others. But as you get through the video, you start to realize the power of it. Work groups from around the world can work on a wave together, and see, in real time, each others' edits. Just when you start to think there are no more good application ideas (outside of games, of course!) something like this comes along. I can see, Dorie, where this would be useful for an extended family to keep in touch. And free!

My wife just watched the video. She thought it could be a useful tool to communicate with her 10 ship captains from the southwest Pacific to the Gulf of Alaska. Then she said something like for all the communications tools around on the internet, people don't communicate well with each other. Talking on a phone or in person communicates more than just words. Stress, anger, emotions.

I think I will stick with IM for now!

I know what you mean Hagar. And Wave is designed for something very much like you mentioned. The 80 min video describes how it can be used for business a little better than the 8 min video, but I doubt you have time for that lol. It's so interesting though.

Sometimes you don't want your emotions conveyed if you are trying to control them, maybe as a Captain or something. And when you want to share them, you can use these silly little things --> Tongue

Still, the possibilities...

Looks very good. Getting harder for us non techi geeks to keep up with all this new technology. Just got the hang of Facebook and now this comes along. Is this like when gmail first came out and you need a friend to invite you?
