Topic: Going back to Sniper Posted: July 09 2009 at 12:25pm |
Almost 2 years ago I set out to learn the M4 as I always had played the sniper. I wanted to see if I could make the shots that other players were capable - to prove or disprove the possibilty. It gave me something new to do and renewed my interest in the game once again.
What I have learned is that it is possible to make some really good, quick kills with the M4. Although I really lack consistency, I have good days and bad. I have also learned that the gameplay changes quite drastically when you increase the number of players using the M4 or AK which is now the predominate choice of weapon in Wasteland. The days of 'cat and mouse' gameplay appear long gone, ushered in by the run-and-gun.
Today I've decided to set down my automatic rifle with grenade launcher, empty the clips, put my trigger lock on and clean the rust of my sniper rifle. My hope is to pick up were I left off a few years ago and perhaps entice a few players to join me - breath some new life in the game, renew my interest once again.
If need be, I will use the M4 to assist my team in capturing flags or defending ours, because that is the goal of the game. In using the sniper rifle, I'm not out just for kills and camping. But if you get near my flag or start shooting at our flag runner, be prepared to die.
See you on the battlefield, that is, if you can see me.

You've been hiding behind that M4 skirt too long.

The cat and mouse gameplay of a predominantly sniper server was great, all tactical moves and ambushes.
To be honest I've been losing interest in SOF for awhile though, now that there are games that are both easy to pick up and exciting such as TF2 or CoD4 I think I will be moving more towards them.

Yes I am with Sith on that one. I found a GREAT Snipers only server in COD4. For the most part everyone who plays there is pretty mature. Mainly an older crowd. They are very welcoming. If anyone would like the info just let me know.

I love how you guys post on a SOF thread about how you dislike it and play other games, especially when we're hosting and paying for it.

I was just going with the conversation. And I never said that I dislike the game just that I have been playing other ones.
Conan doesnt even play sof anymore and he is the one hosting! |

What Gina said, difference between dislike and losing interest. SOF still has its charms but mostly its to play with people who I wouldnt see otherwise.
